Ten Tech Trends to watch in 2012

1. 3D Scanners
HP was the first to show one off,but this technology for scanner objects has many applications and will prove popular.

2. Ivy Bridge
If we haven't made it clear how excited we are for this new technology from Intel. then we haven't been doing our jobs.

3. Hi-Def displays
Handheld and portable devices with high-DPI are on the rise and as gadgets get more powerful, we want the displays to match.

4. Quad-core Tablets
The power we mentioned above? It's chipsets like the Tegra 3 that will be supplying it.

5. Glassless 3D
If there's a universal complaint about 3D, it's the need for glasses - so any tech that removes the need is going to be big.



6. Content delivery devices
The Kindle Fire would be nothing without Amazon services behind it will other companies try and enter this market?

7. NFC Payments
Aside from PayWave, NFC gets short shrift in Australia, with few devices supporting it... up until now, at least.

8. ARM chips for Windows
ARM wants to get into Windows especially with tablets and notebooks - watch this space.

9. Windows 8
This is the biggest change to the Windows operating system since, well, Windows. Either on the desktop or when mobile, MS has to get this right

10 Kinect for Windows
Now that MS has got its cameral voice recognition system off the Xbox and onto the PC, we can't wait to see what's coming,
