HTC has produced some high quality handsets over the years, helping to drive the Android revolution and offering some genuine competition for Apple's iPhone. Whether or not the Windows Phone 7 software will be able to compete remains to be seen, but one thing is certain, the HD7 is the phone to do it.

rEviEw - APPLE IPAD - A tablet PC to rule them all

Going on the mass of press coverage leading up to the launch of Apple's iPad in the United States and Europe, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the plans for Apple's - at the time latest - device had come into the hands of Steve Jobs through some kind of divine intervention.

Sure, it’s shiny, and pretty, and well… shiny. That huge 9.7-inch touch screen, finished with a glossy black border and a silver metallic back is simply gorgeous. It all screams buy me but should you? Well if you’re looking at the iPad based on its internal and external hardware, then you’re looking at it the wrong way. Don’t worry; this is an Apple product, and as you’d (usually) expect, the build quality is top-notch but the real star of the show is the operating system.

iOS – and the applications that run on it – is what makes the iPad so special. Freed from the confines of the iPhone’s small screen and bolstered by the 1GHz A4 chip at the heart of the device, iOS really shows what it is capable of. When it comes to using these devices, we found they offer fast throughput that is more than sufficient for streaming video and sharing large files. Transfer rates remain at a constant speed, even when running HD video over two floors.

We like the Belkin Powerline AV. It has a stylish and modern look, and performance exceeds all the other devices here. It's not the cheapest option you can find out there, but if you shop around there are bargains to be had.

TeliaSonera first in the world with 4G services

Today, as the first operator in the world, TeliaSonera launches 4G services commercially to customers in Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway.
"We are very proud to be the first operator in the world to offer our customers 4G services. The use of mobile broadband in the Nordic countries is exploding and customers need higher speeds and capacity. This is why we launch 4G services in both Stockholm and Oslo," says Kenneth Karlberg, President and Head of Mobility Services.

4G/LTE will open up new possibilities for customers to use and enjoy services on their laptops, requiring high transmission speed and capacity, such as advanced web TV broadcasting, extensive online gaming and web conferences.

"Being first out with new technology gives us unique experience that we can use on all our markets. We will continue the roll-out to offer our customers new communication services for the future," continues Kenneth Karlberg.

The two pioneering 4G city networks cover the central city areas of Stockholm and Oslo and will be used for mobile data. 4G is the fastest mobile technology available on the market, with speeds up to ten times higher than today's turbo 3G.

TeliaSonera has three nation wide 4G/LTE licenses; in Sweden, Norway and also recently in Finland. The network roll out is in progress to offer 4G to Sweden's and Norway's largest cities.

The U2 iPod has similar features as that of other iPods of its generation. It is so easy to use - all you need in order to do whatever you want with your songs is your thumb. Superior sound quality lets you enjoy all your favorite songs.

One drawback is the battery life. It is supposed to be able to play songs continuously for 12 hours. In my experience, it could be anywhere from 4-9 hours. Factors such as file size and playback options may be the reason for this. The lock button on the top of the iPod can help conserve battery. When not in use, you can lock it so that you won’t accidentally run the battery down. Another concern is that the iPod gets scratched easily. Solution: get a case for protection.

Indeed, compared to the other models with their newer features, the U2 iPod is a bit expensive. If you think about it though, it has everything you need in an mp3 player – unless it’s video you’re after. I suppose the bottom line is whether you are enough of a U2 fan to splurge on it. The internal AAs recharge in about 12-hours when set atop the included induction charger. Fully charged, you can expect between 3- and 45-hours of white light, 12- to 16-hours of the blue stuff, and about 6 hours in flashlight mode. No price was given but it'll be on sale in Japan starting September 11th.
